Chanel Deadline

I am not going to make the Chanel deadline-but I don't think that is a problem. I am learning a lot and know what I am going to do differently when I make my own jacket-next year.
  • Thread tracing- I hand sewed each seam line with bright red thread. The entire time I kept wondering why this could not have been accomplished with chalk. If you know the couture reason, please let me know. I am sure it has something to do with perfection and quality..............

  • Quilted Lining-the next time I will be exact with my pins and inches. Thank goodness for the quilting foot. This fabric is bumpy and shifts like quicksand.
I am enjoying the process. D1 is very excited. I will be more meticulous with the next Chanel.....

  1. I was wondering about threading too. It is soooo time consuming! Just reading my walking foot directions tonight--first timer!

The jacket looks great! I love the off white lining. It looks very classy!

  2. Don't rush it for the sake of finishing.

  3. I love the white lining, too. That's awesome that you're learning so much.

  4. seems to me the thread tracing is so that you can see the seam line on both sides of the fabric...

  5. Is there a deadline? Looks like I won't make it either...

  6. It's a process --- you'll finish when you finish and you'll have a gorgeous jacket!

  7. Joann...I am wondering if you had put a tear away stabilizer under the lining before quilting --if that would have helped it NON pucker? Just a thought...I'm sure more experienced sewers here would know.

  8. Hi West Coast Bloomer-I did not add any tear away stabilizer. This fabric is not "typical" Chanel boucle that is often used.It is a linen/cotton/silk tweed,so right there I was taking a risk with a non suggested fabric. Great point though. My next Chanel will be by the book!
