Well, when you see a sheath dress for well over $100 at your daughter's favorite store, you always leave mumbling, "I can make that."
I already had this nylon rosette tulle in my stash. What are the chances?
I used the tried and true Burda 3477. After 2 muslins, and several fittings we now have a muslin to use for future dresses. This dress had to be more fitted
I lined it with bemberg, 14 inch zipper , and have yet to complete the hem. Not a difficult pattern , but a great basic sheath with princess seams that allows for a great fit.
Worth it!

Wow, great knock off. I am sure your daughter loves the dress. It is nice to have the fabric in your stash as well.
ReplyDeleteBetter than the original which would have totally overwhelmed your small curvy dd. She looks fabulous in this!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool dress. She looks great. Perfect knock-off. I agree, I'll never again buy a sheath dress.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Just as nice (actually nicer) than the original and perfectly fitted.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nancy, yours is actually better! I hope your dd loves it!
ReplyDeleteFantastic dress, it is perfect fit.
ReplyDeleteThat looks great! What a lucky coincidence. The fabric is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAnd you did a great job too!
ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous dress, and what luck to have the exact fabric in your stash!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely on her and you have the most amazing fabric collection because you are always pulling these designer pieces out to make great garments!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great dress for your daughter, the inspiration version looks as if it would be far too boxy. The fit on the custom dress looks terrific. I love the fabric.
ReplyDeleteWow- that's look fabulous - always worth it!!!!
ReplyDeleteva va voom ! What a dress ! I also prefer the fitted look of your version. Nice project !!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolute proof, should your daughter need it, that sewing is worth every penny and minute. Sheath dresses are the biggest ripoffs on shop hangers, and you've done a great job on both fronts, dress and daughter!
ReplyDeleteXX
The fabric takes an otherwise plain shape and makes it gorgeous and unique. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! You made a sheath dress with a little "va va voom"! There's nothing basic about it. Lovely work!
ReplyDeleteI love it! That reminds me I need to make an LBD for Annie one of these days...
ReplyDeleteLucky daughter - that's a fabulous party dress!
