Hello All,
What a great summer. Finally I have summoned enough courage to get back to blogging. I have a taken a nice break from just about everything. Now I need a kick to get back into gear.
The Ugly
I am posting this picture of my broken toe, traumatic joint fracture, because this is the reason I have been locked in the Sewing Room Tower, with NO exercise and virtually no movement. Sewing wise I have been productive.
Endorphins and calories spent = 0
Cranky factor =10+++
The Bad
One major wadder when I was locked in the Sewing Tower. Vogue 1252. I had high hopes for this beauty, but the ruching, wrapping, gathering, tucking, draping was all a dither. Great directions, not Vogue's fault, not for me.
The Good
It seemed I was locked in the Tower on the most sunniest of days. One two day period, I went a little crazy with Vogue 1250, adding sleeves and the like. Four dresses. Matte jersey, ITY jersey, Missoni Crush, I used them all.
On another day, below, Burda 07-2011-110 in a black cotton brocade.
Most recently, below, a frankenpattern of Simplicity 2648 bodice and a a pleated skirt for D1 to wear to school. Emil Rutenberg cotton satin. Butter fabric.
I am happy to be back. Excited for fall.
Excited to see what you are all making for the new season, and to my friends in the southern hemisphere, what you will be making for spring.
Regards,
Joanne M
Wow! You were very productive. All if yourit dresses look gorgeous. Sorry the vogue dress did not work out. I bought it too but I feel it my be too overwhelming on my body too.
ReplyDeleteAll of the dresses were beautiful. That's what being trapped in the house will do for you. sewforreal-mamafiore.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteYou have been so productive, great job on th Vogue 1250 and your other two dresses. Sorry about the one no working out, good luck on your healing.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your toe! At least you could still sew and have lots of nice new dresses!
ReplyDeletePoor you! It's horrible to immobile. Your v1250s are a tour de force! I can't decide which one I like best. Too bad about v1252. It looks much too big in the shoulders to me.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty dresses! I've heard that broken toes are terribly painful. Get well soon!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your toe ~ but thrilled that you got some time in the sewing room because I love, love, love your versions of V1250!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back. I'm so sorry to hear about your injury and cranky factor. Yikes. Love your versions of V1250.
ReplyDeleteI love your V1250 line-up - how wonderful to open your closet and see all those beauties hanging there ready to wear just about anywhere! Sad about the toe - but at least you got a lot of sewing done! I love D1's dress - super-cute!
ReplyDeleteOh, bad luck re the toe and the first dress. I too think it might be too big in the shoulders - can you alter? Having said that, all the other dresses look great. Spring here in Melbourne - looking forward to making a linen dress and some experimenting re: drafting.
ReplyDeleteI love V1250. I've been thinking about how sleeves would work so your post is inspirational. Love everything in the 'good' box.
ReplyDeleteYay! Glad you're back! Is that the first time I've seen D1's dress? I love it. Think I've seen the rest?
ReplyDeleteSorry about your foot but your dresses came out great!
ReplyDeleteYour bad looks darn good! Love the 4 dresses. Each our unique!!
ReplyDeleteThe good of Vogue 1250, definitely makes up for the bad. Four great dresses out of five ain't bad at all. I know you are overjoyed to come an go as you please.
ReplyDeleteOk I think I need to get a broken something (not to badly dough ;-) To take the time to sew more. Wonderful idea to put sleeves on V1250. You had mention it on my blog, I had read your post and I came back to see your creations once again. All of those are wonderful !!
ReplyDeleteWow! A broken finger gave fruitful long! Wow! Four dresses ... I would not know which one you choose is the prettiest. You are great and I'm glad I found you.
